"Poor Rapunzel!" Linocut Print, Black on White
Oh, Rapunzel. Why does your one connection with the outside world have to be so inconvenient--not to mention heavy?? The original fairy tale never addressed this crucial question!!
Story time--as a kid I had hip-length blonde hair, and the story of Rapunzel confused me. How did Rapunzel LIVE? How did she get around with all that hair?? My hair was constantly getting in my way and getting stuck in things. As a teen I came up with this humorous solution to Rapunzel's Problem, and it kept appearing in my sketchbooks. This is the fourth finished version of this illustration I've created. See the others here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUcxy1GgxJh/

The print you receive will have subtle differences from other prints in the same edition. Because these prints are made by hand, there are small imperfections in each one--uneven ink, small smudges, imperfect registration, etc.. These are all marks of a product that is made by hand rather than machine. As the artist I have removed all prints I felt had imperfections so large I felt they detracted from the art, but smaller imperfections still exist in the signed prints.
